Paint
Liquid paint can be recycled for free in Douglas County. Each can of household architectural paint has been assessed the appropriate recycling fee when purchased to pay for the program. Remember, liquids are not allowed in the landfill by State Law.
Products & Fees
Architectural paint is defined under the Program as interior and exterior architectural coatings sold in containers of five gallons or less. It does not include industrial, original equipment, or specialty coatings. Examples of Program Products versus Non-Program Products are provided on this page.
Recycle Locations
Paint is now recyclable at the following locations:
- Colorcraft in Roseburg
- Del's Building Supply in Myrtle Creek
- Heartwood Resources in Roseburg
- Sherwin Williams in Roseburg
Accepted
Accepted items at these recycling locations are household paint, varnish, and stain. It must be in the original container, sealed, and liquid. NO thinners, aerosols, adhesives, or other liquid waste is allowed. For more information visit the PaintCare website.

- Enamel (all types of finishes and sheens, including textured coatings)

- Lacquers, Lacquer Sanding Sealers, and Lacquer Stains
- Melamine, metal and rust preventative
- Primers, undercoaters and sealers
- Stains and Shellacs
- Swimming Pool Paints (single component)
- Varnishes and urethanes (single component)
- Waterproofing concrete/masonry/wood sealers and repellents (not-tar-based or bitumen-based)
- Wood Coatings (containing no pesticides)
