To ensure the opportunity for citizens to be involved in all phases of the planning process.
The Citizen Involvement Program in Douglas County offers the opportunity for citizens to become involved in the decision making process as it affects land use planning. The major components of the Citizen Involvement Program are the Planning Advisory Committees, the Committee for Citizen Involvement and the Citizen Involvement Ordinance.
The Committee oversees the Citizen Involvement Program and is responsible for maintaining mutual understanding between the Board of Commissioners and the local PACs. The CCI sponsors educational workshops for PAC members and develops methods to enhance and promote the Citizen Involvement Program.
