County park plans are written for new and existing parks to address land use requirements or management needs. Once adopted by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners and approved by the local land use authority (if required), a park plan guides future park development. We encourage and actively engage park stakeholders and the community during the planning process. Community members and others interested in park development are invited to comment during the planning process.
Policy and Rulemaking plays an important part in building the foundation of Douglas County Parks Department's ability to manage our parks system. Our park policy’s and rules development seeks public engagement through our Parks Advisory Board, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners and public meetings.
